Major Russian Attacks Cut Power In Kyiv

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased strikes in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced interruptions to drinking water, according to city officials.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has escalated strikes on electrical systems over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "concrete actions" from international partners to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the America, the EU and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and implementing penalties," he wrote in a social media post.

Officials stated that 450 drones and several dozen projectiles targeted energy facilities, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles damaged energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Several of the people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been hospitalized, according to city authorities.

Area administrators said the city endured heavy assaults throughout the evening. A young boy was killed and three other people were hurt.

The strikes come after periods of bombing campaigns in the territory, portions of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to spot.

Authorities told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already disrupting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and government agencies were anticipating further attacks.
